Here's what health care professionals like most about living in Thunder Bay.

I have resided in Thunder Bay and the surrounding area all of my life and enjoy taking in all the community and area have to offer. The area provides an abundance of recreational opportunities, excellent educational institutions as well as numerous concerts, festivals, restaurants, cultural events and live theatre. I cannot imagine living anyhere else.

Nurse Practitioner

Thunder Bay is a clean, green and beautiful community to live. I have enjoyed the spectacular scenery for many years, and I find there is never a dull moment.  Living within the city of Thunder Bay has proven to be a wonderful place to raise my family, as it offers safe neighborhoods, easy accessibility to all services and promotes a strong sense of community pride.  It is this high quality of life that makes Thunder Bay one of the best cities to live. Thunder Bay is rich in culture and diversity and there is always an adventure around the corner.

Dr. Diane Bannon

Family Medicine Resident - NOSM

At work, every day I am warmly and kindly welcomed by Ojibwe and Oji-Cree peoples.  It was hardly a time before the beauty and possibilities of the the North Shore of Lake Superior, and the national and provincial parks, had me captivated.

Dr. Peter Braunberger

Psychiatrist

In Thunder Bay I don't have to compromise my lifestyle. I have easy, quick access to the things I enjoy doing.

We both hail from Manitoba but chose Thunder Bay as an ideal location to begin our professional careers over a decade ago. This community is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. One of the highlights? Walking to work while watching the sun rise over Lake Superior and the Sleeping Giant.

The friendly people and the outdoors keep me here. You can visit a national park in a day with no worries about lineups or traffic jams.

Why would anyone come to Thunder Bay? I actually chose Northwestern Ontario over a beautiful western city. I wanted to kayak, ski, and drive to work unencumbered by traffic jams noise and pollution. We have a community that is welcoming and diverse. We have a quality of life that is worth the drive from Toronto and we are just a quick plane ride away from all the hustle and bustle anyone would want.

Bloom where you are planted, preferably, where 'health and happiness' can be nurtured. Thunder Bay is a great place to raise a family, especially, if you want to make a 'healthy lifestyle' your priority.

Dr. Joe Behse

Family Physician

Moving to Thunder Bay in 1998 felt like coming home. After the humid, rushed pace of southern Ontario, it was like a cool oasis, a peaceful spot. We love many aspects of this incredibly beautiful land; we feel it's the best-kept secret in Ontario. Folks here don't realize what a gem Thunder Bay is. People are caring, and have great spirit. We have been made so welcome & we'll never leave.

In Thunder Bay, I have a better opportunity to gain experience while having more time to myself. I want to learn to golf. I know I'll have the time to do that.

Ivy Juan

Occupational Therapist

I came to Thunder Bay looking for a challenging professional practice. Over a decade later I still have a busy and rewarding practice as well as a great lifestyle. In the winter my family and I ski three days a week and I can commute to work from our cottage in the summer. There is no such thing as an air quality warning or traffic report and my family enjoys a standard of living that would be unaffordable in a large urban community. Our children get to grow and learn in an environment that most other kids only visit on vacation. We work hard up here but for anyone with a bit of initiative, the rewards are tremendous. Putting down roots in Thunder Bay was a great decision for us.
